The UK CAA requires you to pass 9 multiple-choice exams. There's no minimum "hours of theory": you sit the exams when you're ready. Most students need 80–120 hours of study total, spread over 2–6 months.
The mocks are written to the same format and pass mark as the real papers, so you can use them to judge whether you're ready before you book. They are practice papers written for revision, not real exam questions.
